How I Started
I have over 40 years of experience of work in grooming and caring for your pets. These years have given me the experience needed to care for the most difficult of pets. Many do get better and learn to behave during the grooming.
The Dog House
I started my own business in 1974, The Dog House, in Riverview, New Brunswick, which I owned and operated until I sold and moved to Ontario in fall of 1983. For several years, I groomed dogs at home while my children were small.
I started Groomin’tales’ in April of 1998, which I still own and operate to date.
Dog Training and Showing
I participated in conformation and obedience shows from 1975 to 2000. I bred and showed Afghans for over 25 years. I bred and owned the 2nd top dog in Canada and top hound in 1986.
I started training dog sports in 1988 with flyball being my favourite. I play and train to this day on a team called BackDraft.
I also traveled across Canada and the USA with the Real Canadian Super Dog Show from 1987 to 2002. I was the stage manager for several of those years.
I am the only groomer at Groomin’tales’, but my right hand and bather/assistant is Natasha Veno, who has been with me for many years now. She bathes and blow dries all the dogs for me, as well as helps out sending pups home and many other things.
Some breeds I have owned, showed, trained and raced are: Pekingese, Cocker, Afghan, Shi Tzu, Belgian Tervuren, Whippet, Jack Russel, Border Collies and many mixes.
